Powdered cocaine is among one of the most widely abused drugs in Pennsylvania and its popularity continues to rise. The cocaine threat lies mainly in rural areas around the state. Colombian, Puerto Rican, and Dominican drug trafficking organizations are responsible for the majority of cocaine coming into Pennsylvania. In 2006, law enforcement agencies confiscated approximately 708 kilograms of cocaine in Pennsylvania.
Approximately 40,432 individuals were reportedly admitted to Pennsylvania drug rehab programs for addiction to heroin or other opiates in 2004 and 2005. Heroin is distributed to many areas throughout the state; heroin is distributed on the streets of Philadelphia while South American heroin is usually found in rural areas and small towns such as Allentown, Bethlehem, Reading, and Easton. New York City is not too far away, so it has also become a common distribution point. Around 12 kilograms of heroin was seized in 2006 by federal law enforcement agencies.

Most of the methamphetamine in Pennsylvania is found in the Philadelphia area, with the supply coming from local drug traffickers who produce it themselves or receive it from other traffickers in California or Mexico via land vehicles, packages, and luggage. There have been many reported meth seizures over the past few years. In 2006, federal law enforcement seized 28 kilograms of methamphetamine and recorded 38 meth lab incidents. Most of these labs were found in rural areas in places such as motel rooms to reduce the risk of detection.

MDMA is growing in popularity among teens and younger adults on college campuses across the state. Ecstasy is mainly smuggled into Pennsylvania by drug trafficking organizations from Canada, New York, and the Caribbean by means of mail and international airports. GHB and Ketamine are also available and abused throughout the state.
There were approximately 21,420 admissions to Pennsylvania drug rehab programs for marijuana addiction in 2004 and 2005. Marijuana is widely available and abused throughout Pennsylvania, mainly distributed in Arizona, Texas, California, New York City and Mexico. Many teenagers and young adults use marijuana recreationally at social gatherings and the drug is often used in combination with crack cocaine, heroin, and PCP. Law enforcement agencies seized approximately 381 kilograms of marijuana is 2006. LSD is distributed and abused in the state as well; young adults in small areas and college towns are the primary users of the drug.
